Say Again? College and Midrash
Posted by David Ketter on October 22, 2006
I disappeared from the face of the Christian blogosphere - (and all the readers said “Oh really? No kidding.”). I assure you, however, that I have not forgotten The Account or have just been lazy. In fact, I have a very good excuse - or rather, many good excuses. I am now a full-time student at Geneva College, where I am majoring in Christian Ministries with a concentration in Pre-Seminary Studies. Among my classes are How To Read the Bible (Hermeneutics), Honors Old Testament Survey, Introduction to Philosophy, Elementary Hebrew 1, and the Sociological Imagination, in addition to a freshman transitions class and the Freshman Honors Program (in which I’ve been reading Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment). Needless to say, I’ve been learning a great deal about the Scriptures and the Christian worldview in many different areas in the time since my last post in September.
Simultaneous to that, I have been feverishly working with Regenerate Our Culture in many different areas. In addition to being a regular columnist writing on topics such as excellence, purity, and apathy, I was working for the better part of September preparing for the October release of Regenerated Radio - the podcasting network that is in affiliation with Regenerate Our Culture. For this project, I am now the host of a podcast show called Midrash, which is “a word from Hebrew that means “translation” or “interpretation.” [The show] is all about understanding the issues and events that we face today from a Scriptural perspective. Midrash aims to interpret everyday life through the lens of God’s Holy Word as shown in the Bible. By using solid principles of exegesis and hermeneutics, Midrash seeks to bring the light of Truth out and strengthen every believer’s walk in Him.”
I will be posting articles of various sorts shortly - all ranging from different aspects of exegesis to philosophy, etc. So stay tuned but, in the mean time, be sure to check out Midrash on Regenerated Radio!
