A Rebelutionary on a Reformission…

The Battle Continues: The Church At War

Posted by David Ketter on July 16, 2005

For years now, the Church has been fighting heresies and Hell-based doctrines that have infiltrated its structure. These falsehoods have been eating at the House of God like termites do a wooden frame. Though many care little about the condition of the Church, there are still some who seek to bring it back to the First Century A.D. Here are some stories:

Eek.. that MegaShift thing sounds rather frightening. “Personal empowerment”, “lifestyle upgrades”… I don’t know.

Do you oppose the Harry Potter novels? I see that the Pope believes they hurt your soul or something, but he didn’t offer very much substance. I used to be vehemently opposed to those books but I’ve kind of moved into neutral ground of late. Not that I would read them, or encourage others to read them, but I don’t know if they are as bad as I thought. I’ve heard and read some interesting defenses of Harry Potter from different Christians so I haven’t conclusively made up my mind. Just wondering what you thought…

Can I say something shallow about Kirk Cameron? He reminds me of this awful person I used to know… and the resemblance is so strong that I can’t enjoy watching him in anything anymore. Do you know what denomination ( if any) Cameron belongs to?

Some of it definitely does. I’m going to see if I can’t get it out of the library. If I can, I’ll get a review of it online. :)

Most definitely. I actually have a website with articles by myself and a few friends (one of whom is Jon Knox – the “Catholic-in-waiting”). The website is Harry Potter: To Read Or Not To Read?.

I tried finding out through his website at Way of the Master but was unsuccessful. I would say though, that from listening to him, he sounds like an Evangelical Christian. I could be wrong though.

Well at least some people are trying to preserve the church…

I don’t really oppose Harry Potter that vehemently.. I’ve never read the books or seen the movies. To me they just looked stupid. I know they have a lot of witchcraft in them, but I don’t think it’s necessarily wrong to watch them….

I’m actually reading a book by Richard Abanes about Harry Potter. So far, I don’t “oppose it” mainly because I’ve never read it, but am on the “be very careful” side. The review and article are coming out in about 2 weeks or so.

    I love Kirk Cameron. He’s awesome. I wonder if he’s Southern Baptist? :) .

Wow, a whole site about your thoughts on HP? Impressive! Seriously, very cool. Although I must say it looks like you guys spend far too much time on-line :) .
I haven’t read any of the books so I didn’t know about the whole magic with a “k” thing, but that really sounds creepy. If the HP books do contain “real” spells or witchcraft stuff like that then I would definitely oppose it. :)

  6. I was just talking to Jess about Harry Potter. There are a few people on a board she’s at that are for it. *Sigh* I can’t stand it. Rowling is very much into Satan, and if you can get your hands on a Time magazine from September, 1999, you’ll see a picture of her with her “familiar” a familiar spirit in the form of a statue. It’s the real witchcraft.

  7. She has a familiar? That changes EVERYTHING…

  8. Isn’t it scary? I can’t corroborate (spell check, where are you?) it, but the picture is there in the Time article. I’d like to see it again so I could scan it. If anyone has information on the location of an extensive archive of Time magazines in print, please let me know. lol.

Oh, that is soooo creepy! I know she used to act and look very much like a witch but she has toned down her look, to make herself more popular I guess.

Ashley, I know exactly who you are talking about (the person you don’t like who looks like Kirk Cameron). I really like Kirk Cameron though- and I love his site, The Way of the Master.

Also, has anyone ever watched Kirk Cameron’s television show? I’ve been looking up some info on it, but I am not finding a channel or a time in which it comes on.
