A Rebelutionary on a Reformission…

September 11th

As the anniversary of the worst day in American history, 09-11-01, passes by, many are reminded of the horrible events that took place a year ago.

From the planes that hit the Twin Towers, to the attack on the Pentagon, to Flight 93 which, without the heroics of the men and women on board, could have resulted in yet a larger senseless destruction of life, proved the day as disastrous.

At Ground Zero, many gathered to place flowers on the site and listen to the long list of victims who died at the World Trade Center. A similar event occurred at Shanksville, PA, where Flight 93 crashed. President George Bush made an appearance at both of those sites and the Pentagon, for the dedication of the rebuilt section. At each site, he offered his condolences to the families of the victims. All across America, the events of 9/11 were remembered and the victims of those events were mourned.

Does this mourning make our country weak? Certainly not! What the terrorists, who committed these abominable acts, had hoped and died for, was in vain. The plans, which had been drawn up for months by Al Queda units, fell to pieces. America did not succumb to fear. Instead, it resisted. The first stand was made on Flight 93 when Todd Beamer said two words, “Let’s roll”. The evil plans of those who sought to weaken this great country were ruined. I’m not saying that Americans weren’t affected. Many people lost friends and family in the attacks. I’m only saying that the American spirit, which has kept this country alive for over 200 years, is not dead. In the words of President Bush, “Be confident. For our country is strong.” [i]
